WebSnort is a self-service search engine where webmasters can directly submit and index their websites and pages. It is designed to provide broader visibility to content that is often underrepresented, filtered, or ignored by traditional search engines.
WebSnort uses a lightweight indexing system combined with a ranking algorithm that values freshness, popularity, and long-term relevance. Submitted content is indexed quickly and can appear in search results without arbitrary exclusion.
Many search engines apply opaque rules, heavy filtering, or de-ranking mechanisms. WebSnort was created as an alternative: transparent, open, and driven by its users rather than editorial or commercial bias.
WebSnort supports a wide range of content and unrestricted access to information that is often hidden, deprioritized, or completely removed from mainstream search engines. As such, users can find and submit a wide range of content, including but not limited to:
WebSnort does not manually curate search results. Ranking is algorithmic, and visibility depends on relevance and user interest (if a result appears a lot of time and is clicked regularly, it will appear and stay at the top position), even if the ability to promote a link to the top position will be added by buying keywords (soon). Content responsibility remains with publishers.
While WebSnort promotes freedom of access and alternative content, we strictly prohibit any content that is considered harmful or criminal. If such content is identified or reported, it will be removed without prior notice. This includes, but is not limited to:
WebSnort indexes content from a wide variety of sources, including those that may be considered controversial or restricted in certain jurisdictions. This includes privacy-enhancing technologies, decentralized finance, alternative content platforms, and niche online communities. Some indexed content, while not illegal in many jurisdictions, may still be subject to regulations, copyright laws, or government restrictions. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their access and use of such content complies with local laws.
WebSnort does not host any content and functions solely as an indexing engine. As an automated indexing platform, WebSnort does not control, endorse, or modify the content of third-party websites. Search results are generated algorithmically and do not reflect the opinions or policies of WebSnort. WebSnort complies with legal requirements in the jurisdictions where it operates, and respond to lawful takedown requests in accordance with international legal standards. Requests for removal must be based on applicable legal grounds. WebSnort reserves the right to reject requests that do not meet such criteria. WebSnort does not facilitate financial transactions, does not provide access to illegal marketplaces, and does not encourage activities that violate applicable laws. Users are responsible for ensuring compliance with their local regulations. Law enforcement agencies and rights holders can submit takedown requests through our reporting system.
